In hot countries where people don't cover up as much or in places like swimming baths or on the beach then your legs are on show and it gives you a big boost to your confidence if you are happy with how they look. Guys don't tend to worry about their legs as much, their hair covers up the shape of their legs and often they just cover them up anyway, but women do worry about their legs because they are on show every time they wear a dress or skirt.

Below are two tips to help you improve your legs:

Lose weight: Sorry, I thought I would get this one out of the way first. If you are unhappy with how your legs look then one of the main problems could be you are carrying excess weight. We all store fat in different places, some lucky souls put it on evenly over their body so they look balanced, I put it on mainly around my waist (poor me!) and others might have a bias towards it being stored in their legs. There really is no solution to the problem of where your body stores fat, other than too try and keep your weight in check so you don't store any excess in your legs. Get on your bike: Have you seen how toned the legs of professional cyclists are? Cycling is great for working the muscles in your legs, and also your butt, plus it is great exercise too which burns calories to help you lose weight, and it will get you fit as well. I find cycling works my legs a lot more than running, I don't know exactly why, but I can feel the burn in my legs when I push to go up a hill, whereas if I jogged up that hill I would barely feel anything.

Don't get a stationary bike though, they seem ok in principle and you don't need to worry about the weather with them etc, but they don't give you a proper workout because you are not moving your feet at all or varying your pedaling speed and difficulty like you naturally would on your real bike. I think the inclines in your local neighborhood along with starting and stopping to deal with traffic etc are the best way to get a decent workout. So grab yourself a cheap bike like I did, plus a helmet and some lights if you need them, and then get out there and find a simple route to follow.
